Essence SmartCare España wins the Ibernex Challenge launched from Aragón Open Future with a technological solution that facilitates the autonomy of the elderly, dependent and chronically ill

Essence SmartCare España has won the technological challenge launched by Ibernex, through Aragón Open Future, an open innovation initiative of Telefónica in alliance with T-ZIR. Ibernex, an Aragonese company of the Pikolín Group that develops care solutions, has chosen a predictive teleassistance proposal that will improve the autonomous quality of life of the elderly, dependent and chronically ill. The winning project will include carrying out a real pilot of its proposal paid by Ibernex with a value of up to 50,000 euros.

Regarding the challenge, 50 startups, SMEs, technology centers and entrepreneurs applied for it: 39 from Spain and 11 Worldwide. During the evaluation process, the nine most innovative projects have participated in a virtual journey of collaboration and co-creation coordinated by the Aragon Open Future team in which, together with Ibernex, they have evolved their proposals and have had the opportunity to interconnect technologies and give visibility to their companies to the rest of their fellow travelers.

The winner of this call, Essence SmartCare Spain, develops innovative advanced telecare solutions aimed at service providers for the care of the elderly. Its solution, based on predictive learning algorithms and artificial intelligence, is capable of evolving according to the needs of its users and monitoring their activity through programmed rules or automatic learning of their habits.

The platform sends alarms to family members and caregivers when a deviation in the user's habitual behavior pattern is detected that could be the origin of a risky situation. For example, excessive use of the bathroom at night, a shower in the early morning, the main door opened for more than 15 minutes, etc. The generated alarms can be sent out via SMS, email or the mobile app.

This technology helps in their day to day life to the elderly, dependent and chronically ill and makes it possible to detect the deterioration of health in early stages. The platform also adds a system of devices that allows the elderly to age independently in their own home and offers an imperceptible health monitoring experience, for the peace of mind of their loved ones.
